Long distance caregiving study -
Exploring the challenges and decisions faced by adult children who are helping manage the care of their parents at a distance, to enable Aged Care Service Providers to better support both

The University of South Australia is conducting a research project to determine how family members living far away, help to plan and manage the care of their relatives from a distance.

The research will identify the challenges faced by families involved in long distance care giving, to enable aged care service providers to better support families, meet the requirements and expectations of their clients and strengthen relationships between the three groups. It also has the potential to improve the quality of life and health outcomes of the clients of aged-care service providers, whose families live at a distance.

If you meet the following criteria, we would be grateful if you would consider expressing an interest in assisting with this study:

ü Be the key decision maker about care provided by an aged care provider to your relative

ü Be unable to travel to be involved in key decisions about your family member’s care from an aged care provider in person (due to practical, social, economic, geographic constraints)

ü Receive support from an aged care provider (client) and have an adult family member who is actively involved in helping to plan and coordinate your care from an aged care provider, but they are often unable totravel to do it in person
